Selection Types
How to select seats, areas, and tables in the Picker
The Picker supports three types of bookable entities, each with different selection behaviors depending on how the organizer configured them.
Seat Selection
Hover over a seat to see a tooltip with:
- Row and seat label (e.g., "Row A, Seat 12")
- Characteristic badges if applicable (wheelchair accessible, restricted view, unbookable)
- Custom metadata set by the organizer (shown as teal badges)
- Quick-add button for single-category seats
Click a seat to select it:
- Single pricing category — the seat is added directly to your selection
- Multiple pricing categories — a popup appears showing each category with its color, name, price, and optional description. Click a category to add the seat at that price.
- No pricing categories — a "Cannot Purchase" message is shown (the organizer hasn't configured pricing for this seat)
To remove a selected seat, click it again or use the remove button in the Selection Panel.
Seat Characteristics
Seats may have special characteristics shown as badges in the hover tooltip:
- Wheelchair Accessible — the seat is designated as accessible
- Restricted View — the seat has a partially obstructed view
- Unbookable — the seat is blocked and cannot be selected
- Unavailable — the seat has already been booked or is not available for this event
Area Selection
Areas are bookable spaces without individual seats. How they work depends on their configuration:
General Admission Areas (Multiple-Customer)
Multiple people can independently book spots in this area (like a standing section or lawn area).
Click the area to open the booking popup:
- Choose a quantity — use the +/- controls to select how many spots you want (up to the area's remaining capacity)
- Choose a pricing category — if multiple categories are available (e.g., Adult, Child, Senior), each shows its price multiplied by your quantity. Click one to add to your selection.
The capacity info bar shows the total available spots and the display unit (e.g., "Capacity: 200 standing").
Private/VIP Areas (Single-Customer)
The entire area is booked by one customer or group. Pricing depends on the method:
Per-person pricing with multiple categories: Each category has its own +/- quantity controls. For example, you might select 3 Adults and 2 Children. The total across all categories must meet the area's minimum occupancy and cannot exceed its maximum. A running total is shown at the bottom.
Per-person pricing with a single category: A quantity selector with the category's price shown as "price × quantity." Minimum and maximum occupancy are enforced.
Flat-fee pricing: Simple category buttons — each shows a flat price for the entire area regardless of how many people attend. Click one to book immediately.
The capacity info bar shows the occupancy range (e.g., "2-8 people") and a "Whole Area" badge.
Table Selection
Tables can be configured for individual seat booking or whole-table booking.
Individual Seat Tables (Multiple-Customer)
Each seat at the table is booked independently, just like row seats. Click a specific seat at the table to:
- See its label and pricing categories
- Choose a category if multiple are available
- Add it to your selection
Whole Table Booking (Single-Customer)
The entire table is booked as one unit. The popup varies by pricing method:
Per-person pricing with multiple categories: Each category gets +/- quantity controls. For example, select 4 Adults and 2 Children at a table for 6. The total is capped by the table's seat count. A running total and "Add to Selection" button appear at the bottom.
Per-person pricing with a single category: A quantity selector (min = minimum occupancy, max = seat count) with the category's price shown as "price × quantity."
Flat-fee pricing: Simple category buttons with flat prices. Click one to book the table immediately.
The capacity info bar shows the seat range (e.g., "2-6 seats") and a "Whole Table" badge.
Pricing Categories
When a seat, area, or table has multiple pricing categories assigned, the Picker shows a category selector. Each category displays:
- Color swatch — matches the color shown on the canvas
- Category name — e.g., "Adult", "Child", "VIP"
- Price — formatted in the layout's configured currency
- Description — optional notes from the organizer about this category
Prices are stored in the layout's currency and displayed using its locale settings (e.g., "$25.00" for USD, "€25,00" for EUR).
